President’s Update

Dear Members,

As a follow up to my email on Tuesday 6th August about our successful application for a JBNPL licence for 2020, I would like to provide some clarity and further information on how things will look at Mornington Soccer Club in season 2020 for our community teams that we currently have at the Club.

The Mornington Soccer Club has been servicing the local community for over 50 years; the introduction of the 4 Boys NPL teams aged 13 – 16 has no impact on our beliefs and focus to continue to provide opportunities for all children in the area, male or female, to play football.

What the additional NPL teams allow is for those boys aged 13 – 16 seeking to compete at the highest level of junior football, the opportunity to do so in their own municipality and not have to travel far and wide to find these teams and opportunities. These pathways from community football into NPL are now available right on their door step and we look forward to providing these opportunities to those looking to be involved in this competition.

Over the past 3 weeks the Committee has been working hard behind the scenes on the whole set up for our juniors in 2020 and we will have some exciting announcements over the next 7 – 10 days on who will be taking on the Technical Director’s roles within the club.

We have been able to use the NPL success as an opportunity to meet with many great candidates to join the club and head up coaching across all areas of the club.

I am excited to advise our members that in 2020, Mornington Soccer Club will have a Technical Director for NPL boys 13 – 16 , Technical Director for community FV boys 13 – 16, Head of Coaching Sub junior boys 7 – 12 and Head of Coaching Girls 7 year old to  Senior Women.

These positions will be filled and finalised over the next 2 weeks and will be spread across 3 – 4 people to make sure that all coaches and players have the extra support and technical support required to take the club to the next level.

This type of commitment to all levels of our junior club is a statement of intent from the Committee that we are serious about continuing to grow our junior development at the club and we hope that our members can see the efforts we are continuing to make to improve your experience at MSC.

The committee is also excited to announce that our community teams in 2020 will, for the 3rd year running, have a price freeze on their fees and these will continue at $450.00 per child as they have been in 2018 and 2019.

In regards the finalisation of the NPL fee structure and details, the club has been invited to FV headquarters on Thursday 29Th August to finalise our licence and information night on how the NPL boys league will set up for season 2020.
Once we have attended this meeting we will be in a better position to provide final details for how this structure will set up and answer any questions from our members.

We can also advise that the club is currently in negotiations with the council for major ground works to be completed in the off season to all pitches.  This winter has had a major toll on the quality of the surfaces and we have submitted a $330,000.00 proposal to completely overhaul the surfaces for season 2020.  We hope to have feedback from the council in the next week or so if we are successful to move forward with these works. As we are not asking for any council investment from this project it would be very disappointing if they were to veto these works. Stay tuned for further information in the coming weeks…

I would like to wish all teams good luck for the weekend in the final home and away matches of the season and also congratulate the teams that have been successful in winning the league titles in season 2019 and hope they can have further success in the finals series.

As always it is a pleasure to be working on behalf of all the members at Mornington Soccer Club and to say that I am excited about what the future holds for this great club would be an understatement.
