Ground Redevelopment
September 4, 2023Dallas Brooks Reserve is one of the main sporting reserves servicing the township of Mornington and is home to the Mornington Soccer Club and the Beleura Junior Sports Club.
The current Soccer and AFL playing fields have poor surface and soil conditions, as well as poor drainage resulting in increased damaged. There are also problems with the surface shapes, levels, and size compliance.
The project will upgrade the playing surfaces to the required standards for Soccer, AFL and Cricket as well as make sure that the playing fields can cope with a high level of sports use.
The local community will benefit from safe, accessible and high-quality recreation spaces. They will also be provided with upgraded and additional car parking, and a new playground will be constructed.
The project will be completed in two stages.
Stage 1:
The football/cricket oval. Detailed Design has been completed and construction for Stage 1 is due to commence in March 2023. The oval construction is expected to be compete by the end of May 2023, with the oval ready to be used by the community the following year (May 2024) after the grass has had time to become established.
Stage 2:
Construction for the soccer pitches is planned to commence at the end of July 2024
The Soccer Pitches will be designed and constructed to deliver 2 NPL standard show pitches; with perimeter fencing, player shelters and 100 Lux lighting. Two further grass pitches will be constructed each with 100 Lux lighting for matches and training. Bringing the number to 4 full-sized pitches
A new car park is being built off Watt’s Road to provide better access to the sports precinct and arenas and a concreate footpath will link the complex to new Fitness/exercise stations and existing footpaths and community spaces.
